2017 Rocky Mountain Karate Championship

We had 12 competitors.
We took 20 medals total !
8 Gold    7 Silver    5 Bronze   

12 athletes, four parents and three officials represented our dojo to the 2017 Rocky Mountain Championship. There were over 300 competitors among whom a lot of high caliber athletes from USA National team, Canada, Russia, Iran, Nepal, and many states across the nation.

  5. Nairobi Nodjigoto Bronze Kumite (Nairobi went on to win bronze after losing his first match against two times World silver medalist and three times European gold medalist, Saeid Ahmadi).
  6. Aeddan Winter Silver Kata (Junior Black belt division) gold Team Kata
  7. Laureat, bronze Kata and silver Kumite
  8. Carys Winter bronze Kumite (Junior Black Belt Division), gold Team Kata.
  9. Spencer Fayles silver Kata, gold Team Kata, gold Kumite
  10. Mamadou Tounkara gold Kata, silver Kumite
  11. Jim McDonough - 4th Kata and Kumite (Masters' Division division)
  12. Idrissa N'daye (very good performance in the Men's Elite division).
  13. Jim McDonough and Idrissa N'diaye both passed their first karate judge license (Kumite Judge License D)
Congratulations to all our competitors. We will now be preparing for the Utah State Championship in Park City on June 3.

At IMA-International Budokan we teach traditional Japanese, traditional Shotokan based on the philosophies of the founder of Shotokan karate-do, Gichin Funakoshi.
