2017 IMA Karate Championship in Utah - 11th Annual
November 11, 2017 ~ Salt Lake City, UT

We had 25 competitors.
We took 41 medals total !
8 Gold    15 Silver    18 Bronze

I hope everybody enjoyed the 11th Annual IMA Championship in Utah. Overall, the tournament went well, although I believe the director could have easily addressed some scheduling issues that affected three of our competitors.

25 five of our athletes competed and brought home 41 medals: 8 gold, 15 Silver, 18 bronze

Special mention:

  • all our first time competitors, you did an excellent job by just getting over your fear and stepping on the competition mats in front of a big crowd. You will all get better at this as you participate in more tournaments.
  • Carys Winter most improved competitors. Carys followed our kumite training routines to the letter and scored 6 points with jodan kicks during her first match. I was very happy to see that she tried the strategies she learned in class. Keep it up, Carys. You will get better if you do.
Congratulations to all. I am proud of everybody. My sincere thank you to all our sponsors whose generosity allowed 7 kids to compete in this tournament.
